Sailor tongs

Sailor Tongs are intended for crimping ferrules made ​​of aluminum and copper, from size 1-6. They are advantageous when pressing SWR in confined spaces, for example on a boat. The dies are interchangeable and each size of ferrule has its matching size on the tool. The entire length of the ferrule must be pressed to the correct diameter to ensure its full strength.

Operating Instructions for Sailing Tongs

 For selection of the size of the ferrules to the specific wire rope, see "Talurit ferrule INSTRUCTIONS".

The tools must be installed so that the marking is visible on the front of the tongs, i.e. where the decal for adjustment instructions is included.

Crimping shall be made along the entire length of the ferrule in order to obtain maximum strength of the joint. Control of crimping is made by measuring the diameter after pressing. e.g. The pressed diameter of ferrule no. 2 shall be 4 mm (2x2) after pressing. Note the following when pressing:
• Start pressing either in the middle or on the outer edge of the ferrule. Ensure that the ferrule is fully pressed.
• The ferrule must be installed perpendicular in the dies. Incorrect installation can lead to inadequate compression.
• Ensure that the dies are pressed together firmly and fully. Check the diameter after pressing to confirm the ferrule is fully pressed.
